Education
Education is the root of prosperity and success, yet the standard of education in Britain has been left to fall while successive governments cover up the problems. Competition between exam boards for 'customers' have caused standards of
education and requirements for grades to be lowered, creating an ill-educated generation. Discipline has been lost. Targets and check boxes have replaced children's needs.
In order to bring strengthen our economy and secure decent prospects for our children, the education system is in need of change.

We will merge all of the examination boards to form a single national awarding body, independent of party politics. It will work with educational institutions to offer a wide range of qualifications.
We will abolish the League Tables and give their role to the national awarding body. This will save bureaucracy and costs.
Primary schools will concentrate more on the three 'R's' and less on exam preparation that squeezes creative ability out of children and leaves them unprepared for secondary school.
Discipline will be reinstated in education. Teachers will be made aware of the disciplinary powers they have and the culture of 'no touching' removed. Teachers must be able to deal with abusive children without the fear of prosecution. Discipline in general will be made firmer, with the culture of 'rehabilitation' for abusive students abolished.
The National Curriculum will be limited to core subjects (English, Maths, Sciences and IT) and subjects deemed essential to our heritage, culture and international understanding. Teachers, parents and pupils will be given more freedom to choose what is taught in other areas.
Inspections of schools will be made to concentrate more on failing institutions and how to improve them rather than categorising them. Inspections will also be spontaneous, so they can see schools as they really are.
Allocation of funds to schools will be made more uniform, on a more 'per head' basis. Parents who chose to send children into private education or home schooling should be given their fair share of the education budget as subsidies.
A Grammar school system will be re-introduced to allow able children to benefit from more specialized education. To remove class bias, entrance exams will be made more tutor proof by moving away from the old inflexible tests to a more IQ testing exam, whilst also taking into account teacher reports for more flexibility.
